28% of food purchases are health motivated, this is strongest amongst older consumers but growing in interest with under 16s and mid 35-45 age groups. Highest consumption occurs across evening meal and morning snack occasions with consumers looking for products to meet their wellbeing needs.

Consumers are looking for natural ways to enrich their diet, avoiding high fat and added sugar by looking for positive whole food replacements such as fruit, vegetables, nuts and seeds. 


Healthy Indulgence

We have seen 14% growth of selected indulgent categories with an active health claim over the last 5 years; new brands are hitting the shelves blending indulgence with added value goodness. 


Proactive Health

1 in 3 consumers claim to be proactive in dealing with weight management, heart health and joint health while 15% of food and drink choices are chosen due to a health benefit. 


Kind to Planet, Kind to Self

Plant-based is a sweet spot between many trends – it’s good for health and the planet. There has been a wave of product innovation in this area with plant-based claims increasing by 302% between 2018 and 2022.

Cherry Bakewell Bar


  1. Mix all the wet ingredients in a bowl until fully incorporated 
  2. Add oats, fruits, wheat flakes and nuts and mix 
  3. Add crisp rice and gently stir through 
  4. Press into a greased baking tray 20cm by 20cm 
  5. Bake for 18 to 22 mins @ 150c fan assisted

20g Crisp rice
80g Jumbo oats
100g Wheat flakes
50g Almond butter
120g Clear honey
100g Cherry Berryfusion cranberries
60g Sour cherries
50g Honey almond slice
0.5g Vanilla essence
20g Pumpkin seeds
