Technical Manager Supply Chain

J.O. Sims are looking for a Supply Chain Technical Manager to join the Technical team

Job Description & Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Supplier Due Diligence management for the global supply base in line with customer requirements and manage customer web-based programmes eg. Muddy Boots/Food Experts.
  • Responsible for implementing residue analysis programme in line with industry and customer requirements. Investigate pesticide issues when applicable.
  • Responsible for supplier auditing programme to meet customer requirements including ethical and food safety. Conduct Select Farm audits where required.
  • Ensure the appropriate systems and procedures are in place regards food safety and address issues.
  • Maintain strong relationships with Technical teams in global supply base and new supplier approval. Work with suppliers on quality issues and new product development/variety development.
  • Develop Cl plans with suppliers through supplier scorecards and work with PAS suppliers to meet retailer requirements.
  • Remain up to date with changing regulations regards residues, pesticides etc.
  • Communicate to the business in regard to new retailer requirements or potential challenges within the supply base.
  • Attend FPC and JS Crop Action meetings.
  • Maintain pesticide approvals with retailers through Food Experts, Audax, GLSA and retailers.
  • Support on customer visits within the supply base or site.
  • Implement the supply base environmental strategy and data gathering systems.

Knowledge & Skills Requirement

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within Fresh Produce Technical
  • Agri-Food/Food Science related degree
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Must be a leader as well as a Technical team member who is proactive and has meticulous attention to detail, along with excellent verbal and written communication in addition to team working skills.
