the importance of harnessing the wellbeing trend

Health motivated purchases are increasing, driven by a need to tackle the obesity epidemic in the UK (where 64% of the population is classed as overweight or obese), legislative push (via HFSS regulations) and a shift in the consumer conversation around wellness (more aware and motivated to take action to manage weight and overall physical and mental wellbeing).

An opportunity exists for you to target key trends around health:

  • Weight wellness – Led by rise in GLP-1 medication usage, now used by 1 in 20 adults across the UK, consumers are turning to smaller portions, targeted nutrition, seeking products that hydrate have muscle building proteins and gut friendly fibres.
  • Natural goodness – Increased desire for ‘real food’ – clean eating, minimally processed, wholesome goodness with emphasis on dietary diversity, quality, nutrition and authenticity to support natural wellbeing.
  • Positive nutrition – Food is being used as medicine, consumers are seeking products that put the goodness in – protein, gut busting fibre and nutrient rich solutions alongside products that tackle age issues.
  • Holistic wellbeing – Desire for food that makes you feel good. Increased demand for products that support stress relief, improve focus, optimise performance, boost energy and improve mood .
  • Sources: 64% overweight or obese – NHS. 1 in 20 adults using GLP-1 – Iqvia

the health benefits of dried fruit and nuts

The focus on health and wellbeing gives us the perfect opportunity to leverage the natural goodness of dried fruit and nuts:

Nuts are nutrient rich and packed with fibre, protein, healthy fats and antioxidants – all of which help keep hunger at bay while delivering energy.

Dried fruits are a convenient and naturally sweet source of vitamins and antioxidants which support energy, digestion and overall health.
